Jetboil Flash Camping Stove Cooking System Full Review

Stable & Sturdy Design

Jetboil Flash Cooking System

Even without the included pot support accessory, the Flash is pretty steady. Still, we like that Jetboil has the pot support for more surface contact when using small fuel canisters. The support isn’t necessary, but it’s nice to have the option of extra stability in windy conditions. Overall, the Flash is a very sturdy and durable cook system that will last for many years of adventuring if treated with care.

Use Of Use

Easy To Use

Boiling water is so easy withe The Flash, thanks to its deep and narrow-body design. The control valve is easy to use and is placed in the perfect position for adjustments. Like all Jetboil stoves, the pot-to-burner assembly is inspiring, connecting with an easy-to-use slide and click mechanism. In the past, the included small plastic cups with Jetboil stoves were somewhat brittle and didn’t last long if you drop them a few times, which we all do. However, the new Flash cup is more flexible and durable and has survived our use so far.

Boiling Water Super Fast

In a flash, the Flash can boil 16 oz. (half full) of water in only 100 sec., which is amazingly fast and useful when you want a meal or a hot drink after a long day on the trail burning calories. The Flash could be a game-changer for those who tend to get cold quickly since it heats the water pronto.

Does The Jetboil Flas Simmer?

Like many integrated canister stoves on the market, the Flash does not simmer all that well, but we’re hiking; after all, we’re not running a restaurant. Alas, in this category, we need to mark the stoves down somewhat. If simmering is crucial to you, consider a small canister stove instead., you won’t get the boil time though

Fuel Efficiency

In terms of fuel efficiency, the Flash is one of the best in windless conditions, probably due to its well-insulated pot. This efficiency does, however, drop by about 25% when you are in windy conditions. Use it in a sheltered area.

A really cool feature you’ll love on the Jetboil Flash is that the large flame logo is also a water temperature indicator. It turns red as the water approaches a boil. Rather than continually trying to see through a steamy lid or lifting up the cover to see if it’s started to boil, with this, you simply sit back and watch the color change.

Overall Excellent Value For Money

Since this is a cooking system and includes both the pot and the stove, the Flash is a really superb value at right around $110. It’s very efficient with fuel too, saving you money on fuel canisters. Jetboil does offer an economy model, the Jetboil Zip, but it lacks a few of the Flash’s perks, and the pot is smaller 0.8L, which may be a bit too small to cook for 2 people in the camp.

Jetboil Flash Packability

Jetboil Flash Camping Stove Packability

The Flash is a nicely-designed packable system with the ability to pack a 100 g. fuel canister, stove, and pot support all inside the cooking cook. With the whole cooking system combined, the Flash is reasonably compact and won’t take up too much space in your backpack.

I've used rocket stoves plenty. This was the fastest, hottest stove I've ever used. I really didn't give much thought to the heat gauge on the pot wrap, but having used it in the dark, during storms, and half asleep, it's not just a gimmick.
Works like a dream in extreme cold weather! Could use a better starter.

I’ve used this stove so many times I lost count. Although it’s not revolutionary, it’s definitely top of its class. It’s been out through the ringer on torture tests with me.
Awesome!

Overall I like it, It lights easily and boils pretty dang fast. But I must agree that it doesn't stay lit in gusty conditions as well as I'd hoped (because it seemed to be a driving force behind their design). I mean, 99% of the time it is easy enough to adjust the position to keep it going, but I was disappointed in that a bit
