We think the Slonik 1000 is an excellent little product that won’t break the bank. However, it does have limitations of use, which we’ll discuss in the review.
The Slonik headlamp is good for the occasional hiker, camper, or night trail runner (see our best trail running shoes for hiking guide). However, I would not recommend it for anything longer than a weekend hiking or camping trip. It also would not be suitable if you want to hike through the night on multiple nights on one charge. On one battery charge, it is more of a campsite headlamp for minimal use. Or for night hiking for one night.

Battery Life
The battery will last up to 8 hours in low light mode – which is pretty decent. However, if you are on a multi-day hiking adventure, that won’t last long if in constant use. While continuous use on high mode, you will get only 3.5 hours of battery life.
The battery life is not adequate for thru-hikers who want to use the full beam for night hiking, as they might not get regular access to a charge point. Unless, of course, you use your battery bank (which you should) or have a USB portable Solar panel (more stuff to carry).
So, this headtorch s more for limited use at night when hiking, such as a call of nature or finding something in your tent – don’t think you’ll be able to use it to catch up some reading in the tent; otherwise, it will soon go flat when you need it.
Durability & Performance
The Slonik is a waterproof and dustproof headlamp so that you can take it on a range of short hiking trips. This headlamp is made for extreme environments and can withstand any weather conditions. Slonik 1000 comes with an adjustable headband so you can find the perfect fit.
The Slonik Rechargeable Headlamp has five light brightness levels and a 90-degree swivel angle. This headlamp is easy to operate, especially when you can interchange the light levels with one push button.
Recharging The Battery
The 220mah battery charges quickly with a user-friendly micro USB cable included in the kit, keeping it convenient and ready to go. Recharging the battery only takes 2 hours, which is good compared to other head torches coting a similar amount that can take up to 4 or more hours to charge fully.

We hike at night and this light has turned out to be excellent. I gave the battery life a four star only because it holds light well for about 8 hours and it would be nice if it was more like 12.
